This year has been absolutely thrilling for Peace In Practice! We kicked off with boundless energy and have seen tremendous progress in our Youth Programming, Yoga Teacher Training certification, and administrative development. Plus, we've updated our strategic plan for the future! Your kind and generous support has been so meaningful.

Here are the highlights of our year:

Youth Work

We’ve served nearly 1000 unique youth in 2024/25!

With Northside Achievement Zone - we delivered youth programming at 21st Century Academy, Jerry Gamble Boys and Girls Club, Northside Child Development Center, and Agape Oasis

Partnered with Campfire MN for after-school and summer programs to lead yoga for youth from 6 different Minneapolis elementary schools 

Year-round weekly mindfulness club for Sanneh Foundation’s Kidztyme program at Conway Recreation Center grade K-5. 

Lead morning meditation and movement for Don’t Shoot Guns Shoot Hoops overnight basketball camps at National Sports Center 

Delivered yoga workshops for grades 3-12 for Homegrown Lacrosse Youth Summer Camp 

Camden High School- provided yoga & mindfulness instruction to boys & girls basketball and wrestling teams.

Edison High School- we provided training for softball, track and badminton teams through Beacons program.

Developing wellness programming for the new Morning Glory Montessori School

Yoga at the Walker Sculpture Garden with kids from Rooted and Ready Reset Camp

Healing-Centered 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training

  • Created a healing-centered, trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness professional training program.

  • So far, awarded full scholarships to 60 students of color that covered professional training, textbooks, and yoga gear.

  • Certified thirty-nine 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training graduates

  • We’re thrilled to have graduated our third, and largest, cohort from our YTT professional training. Our 18 new graduates led a beautiful collaborative healing experience for our community. 

  • Our fourth cohort is underway and set to graduate in January 2026 

  • We’ve awarded 17 scholarships for our 300-hour training which certified yoga teachers dive deeper into the techniques, philosophy, and community building of our Healing-centered approach

Community Programming

  • Wellness Wednesday our weekly community gathering has shown consistent growth with regular crowds of 40-50 people. We’ve showcased the teaching skills of many of our new teachers as well as sound baths and photo sessions. 

  • Mississippi Park Connection - Provided yoga classes all summer at three locations along the river.

  • Campfire, MN - we led four outdoor full day retreats for our students to practice yoga and learn in nature.

  • My Brothers Heal (bi-weekly) and My Sisters Heal (monthly) have held space for movement, bonding, and reflective conversations 

  • In collaboration with Yoga Sanctuary and Brooklyn Center Community Center we’ve provided weekly yoga to the BCCC community led by our cohort-2 graduate, Lex Hearn of Hearn Family Wellness.

Advance Yoga Teacher Training 300-Hour

We’ve awarded 17 scholarships for our 300-hour training which certified yoga teachers dive deeper into the techniques, philosophy, and community building of our Healing-centered approach

We’re growing!

  • As recipients of the Building A Movement Grant, we’re continuing to work with our colleagues at Greater Twin Cities United Way and Career Academies, to launch a first of its kinds concurrent enrollment Yoga Teach training program for high school students.

  • We’re exploring potential collaborations with local yoga studios including Up Yoga, and MOV Hot Yoga 

  • Committed to our mission we’ve prioritized fundraising, by forming a development committee.

  • We’re excited to host our Inaugural Amethyst Ball Fundraising Gala on November 13 at the B-Suite, downtown Minneapolis. 

  • We’re exploring a potential future home studio.

What’s next?

  • We are working diligently to establish our first of its kind, concurrent enrollment program with local colleges in the Twin Cities. When established, we will provide exceptional Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher Training to high school students, providing professional certification, college credit, and career readiness.

  • Expand youth programming to meet demand and provide more opportunities for our newly certified yoga instructors.

  • Karuna Community - exploring collaboration to deliver yoga & mindfulness programming in correctional facilities, women’s shelters, and other institutions.

  • And numerous other exciting offerings to our community!
